MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING ON CONSULTATIONS BETWEEN THE MINISTRY OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS OF THE REPUBLIC OF INDIA AND THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND THE PUBLIC SERVICE OF THE COMMONWEALTH OF THE BAHAMAS  

The Ministry of External Affairs of the Republic of India and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Public Service of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, hereinafter referred to as “the Parties”,

            MOTIVATED by the friendly relations between the peoples of both countries for several decades,

            COMMITTED to further developing and strengthening those relations by enhancing mutual understanding and cooperation,

            CONVINCED of the usefulness of consultations at various levels, both for advancing their bilateral relations as well as on international issues of mutual interest,

            DESIROUS of facilitating mutually beneficial cooperation,

             HEREBY agree on the following: 

1.         The Parties shall hold regular consultations, in accordance with paragraph 3, to review all aspects of their bilateral relations and their interaction in the international arena, as well as to exchange views on international issues of mutual interest;

 2.         The Parties shall also give special focus to advancing their bilateral relations in the area of political, economic, commercial, scientific and cultural cooperation;

 3.         The consultations will be conducted at the level of Ministers/Senior officials, according to mutual convenience and agreement.  The date, place and agenda of such consultations will be determined mutually between the Parties through diplomatic channels;

 4.         The present Memorandum of Understanding shall enter into force on the date of its signing and shall remain in force unless either of the sides gives to the other a written notice six months in advance of its intention to terminate this Memorandum of Understanding.
