Public Information Assistant, G/7, Deadline: 09 Feb 2007
The Public Information Assistant will be responsible for coordinating and managing the development, production and dissemination of communications outputs/services, with minimal supervision, as well as serving as Research Assistant to the Director. Specific duties include: organize the publication and distribution of the newsletter for ECLAC/CDCC, including writing articles as necessary; develop and maintain contacts with the media and other organizations; arrange press conferences, briefings and other events; prepare reports and briefs on specific topics; and conduct research in economic development cooperation and other assigned areas.

Finance Assistant, G/7, Deadline: 09 Feb 2007
Within delegated authority, the Finance Assistant will be responsible for the following duties, among others: (1) Ensure smooth functioning of the Finance Unit; (2) Carry out functions of approving officer in the Integrated Management Information System (IMIS) and on claim forms; (3) Monitor bank balances, request funds remittances and prepare cash transfers; (4) Perform duties of cashier, including receiving of all monies paid to the office, banking and issuing receipts; (5) Prepare and submit to ECLAC Santiago salary information for inclusion in the monthly salary payment; (6) Screen and settle medical claims submitted by General Service staff; (7) Prepare billing to other United Nations agencies, government departments and other organizations; (8) Provide input in preparation of budget proposals and assist in monitoring expenditure; (9) Assist in preparation of budget performance reports; and (10) Prepare disbursement vouchers whenever required.

Research Assistant, (SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT), G/6 , Deadline: 09 Feb 2007
The Research Assistant will perform a variety of functions such as monitoring and evaluation of approaches to 'sustainable development' with particular reference to Small Island Developing States (SIDS) at the international, regional and national levels; development of policy recommendations of particular relevance to the SIDS of the Caribbean region; development of draft Project Proposals in the context of implementation of the SIDS Plan of Action (POA) and other international instruments and decisions, indicating potential sources of funding, where feasible; maintaining and updating data on sustainable development issues; provision of general logistical support with respect to the preparation for meetings and related aspects; the effective discharge of these duties will involve effective liaison with other sections of the office.

Provides administrative and secretarial support to the Officers of the Statistics and Social Development Unit; Ensures adequate support especially in the production of reports and other documents prepared by professional staff members; briefs supervisors on relevant matters while on mission and on return to duty station in order to maintain continuity of activities; ensures the smooth running of conferences, meetings, workshops, etc. organized by the Unit and/or office; assists the Meetings Services Assistant with conferences including arranging official receptions in her absence.
