Anton Thulmann
Born 28.05.1948 in Bern. Studied at the Universities of Bern
and Geneva. Doctorate in Law (Ph. D.). Joined the Swiss Foreign Services
in 1977. Diplomatic Trainee period, of which oe year in Brussels at the
Swiss Mission to EU and the Swiss Embassy in Belgium (1978-1979).
Diplomatic officer of International Legal Affairs Division,
Federal Department of Foreign Affairs in Bern (1979-1983). First
Secretary, then Counsellor for Economic and Commercial Affairs at the
Swiss Embassy in Tokyo (1983-1987). Counsellor at the Swiss Delegation
to OECD in Paris (1987-1990). Head of UN and International Organisation
Section, Federal Department of Foreign Affairs in Bern (1991-1995).
Deputy Secertary General, Federal Department of Defence,
Civil Protection and Suports in Bern with the title of ambassador
(1996-1998). Head of project “Report on Security Policy 2000” of the
Swiss Mission to NATO (since 1999).
Mr. Thalmann is married and has two daughters.
