Call for Papers

An Invitation from the Summits of the Americas Secretariat 
Organization of American States

An invitation has been issued from the Summits Secretariat, for university students from the OAS Member States to participate in an Essay Contest within the framework of the Special Summit of the Americas scheduled for January 12-13, 2004 in  Mexico. The Heads of State and Government will be meeting to exchange ideas and identify initiatives in order to confront the current social, economic and political challenges in the hemisphere.

The essay contest is for graduate and undergraduate students and entries should address one of the three themes to be discussed at the Special Summit:

1. Economic Growth with Equity

2. Social Development

3. Democratic Government.

The essays should be received by the the Summit of the Americas Secretariat, either  electronically or via mail, no later than November 7, 2003. It is the responsibility of the participant to ensure that the work arrives on time. The Panel responsible for evaluating the papers will reach a decision by December 15, 2003.
