SUMMIT OF THE AMERICAS ESSAY COMPETITION

The IV Summit of the Americas will take place in Mar del Plata, Argentina on November 4 - 5, 2005.  

In an effort to continue encouraging the participation of different sectors of society in the Summit Process, the OAS Summits of the Americas Secretariat is organizing the "II Essay Contest - IV Summit

of the Americas", open to university students from the 34 Member  States of the OAS, with the purpose of stimulating analytical thinking of the youth regarding the key issues of the region, as well as to encourage them in the formulation of concrete ideas and recommendations related to the theme of the IV Summit: "Creating Jobs to Fight Poverty and Strengthen Democratic Governance".  

The authors of the 5 best essays (one for each region- North America, Central America, Caribbean, the Andean Region, and MERCOSUR), will be awarded an invitation to attend the IV Summit of the Americas as observers.
