PRIME MINISTER TO ADDRESS CIVIL SOCIETY

November 18, 2004

Prime Minister the Right Honourable Perry G. Christie is to address the regular meeting of Civil Society on the subject of Public Sector reform.  The meeting of Civil Society is to be held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, East Hill Street today at 7:30 p.m.

The Prime Minister is expected to continue the national dialogue on the key question of reforming the public sector.  In a recent address to a seminar on the future of the Public Service, Mr. Christie said that he has “some very specific ideas” about the change necessary in the service, first that it must “faithfully and energetically carry out the objectives of the Government of the day.”

The Government believes that Civil Society is key to the process of governance in that it is a civil polity that subscribes to the view that each man or woman of mature age has his or her say.  All are invited to the meeting of Civil Society today at 7.30 p.m. at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
