Sheila Carey was appointed Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affaris June 2007.  She is a career public servant with extensive experience both at home and abroad.

Between April 2003 and May 2007, Ms. Carey served as Permanent Secretary in Ministry of Financial Services and Investments in April 2003 and May 2002 and April 2003, the Ministry of Youth Sports and Culture. From August 1994 until April 2002 she served as Deputy Chief of Mission at The Bahamas Embassy in Washington, DC one of The Bahamas’ most important overseas missions. She served concurrently as Alternate Representative to the Organization of American States.
