PM and Delegation off to Nigeria for
Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM)
 

The Prime Minister, the Honourable Perry G. Christie, accompanied by the Honourable Fred Mitchell, Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Honourable Allyson Maynard-Gibson, Minister of Financial Services & Investments and Mr. Ronald Thompson, Permanent Secretary of the Office of the Prime Minister, left Nassau yesterday afternoon for Abuja, Nigeria, to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) December 5 – 8, 2003.

The first leg of the trip will be the CARICOM Heads of Government Summit with British Prime Minister, Mr. Tony Blair, in London on 2 December. Some of the issues that will be discussed at this Summit include regional security, trade negotiations and a review of the work of the UK/Caribbean Forum.

 The delegation to Abuja, Nigeria will be joined in London by High Commissioner, Basil O’ Brien.  The Advance Team, comprising Acting Chief of Protocol, Mr. Andrew McKinney and Assistant Secretary, Ms. Charmine Williams, both of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will arrive in Abuja, Nigeria on December 3rd, 2003.
