MITCHELL HEADS CONTINGENT TO CARICOM/CUBA SUMMIT

 December 7, 2005 

Minister of Foreign Affairs & The Public Service the Hon. Fred Mitchell is leading a Bahamian delegation in Bridgetown, Barbados for the second Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the Republic of Cuba. The contingent left for Barbados Tuesday and includes, First Assistant Secretary, Ms Rhoda Jackson; Ambassador to CARICOM, Mr. A Leonard Archer and Senior Protocol Officer Mr. Terry Archer. 

Minister Mitchell and other foreign ministers are scheduled to meet this evening before being hosted tonight to a working dinner by Barbados’s Minister of Foreign Affairs. The summit will be official opened on Thursday with working sessions. A number of other activities will follow, including bilateral meetings, signing of agreements and a reception hosted by the Prime Minister of Barbados where Minister Mitchell will represent Prime Minister the Rt. Hon Perry Christie.  

The contingent returns home on Friday, 9th December, 2005.
