"The Prime Minister, Government and people of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas wish to extend to the Prime Minister, Government and people of Barbados warmest congratulations on the achievement of 40 years of independence. This is a proud accomplishment by the people of Barbados. We are particularly proud of this milestone, since we share with you membership in the Commonwealth and in CARICOM.

On this occasion, we remember especially all those founding citizens of the nation of Barbados and the sacrifices that they made for the country to enjoy the success it has today.

We in The Bahamas, also wish to express our gratitude to the Barbados community in The Bahamas for the contributions made to the development of our country. We pledge to continue

to work together for regional growth and progress and for hemispheric and world peace.
