BAHAMAS SENDS CONDOLENCES TO NATIONS

 AFFECTED BY TSUNAMI

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Honourable Fred Mitchell, is sending letters of condolence to the Governments of India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and the Maldives, following the devastation caused by the tsunami waves generated in the Indian Ocean on December 26, by one of the largest earthquakes in recent times. 

India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and the Maldives are all members of the Commonwealth and Minister Mitchell sits as Vice Chairman of the Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group, which includes the Foreign Ministers of India and Sri Lanka. 

The Bahamas will contact the Commonwealth Secretary General to see in what ways The Bahamas can assist.
