  Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the
Commonwealth of The Bahamas and
The Republic of Sierra Leone

 The Permanent Mission of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas to the United Nations is please to announce that on Tuesday, 7 November 2006, New York City, H.E. Dr. Paulette A. Bethel, Ambassador/Permanent Representative of The Bahamas to the United Nations, signed a Joint Communiqué establishing formal diplomatic relations between the Commonwealth of The Bahamas and the Republic of Sierra Leone.

The Joint Communiqué, which was also signed on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Sierra Leone by H.E. Mr. Joe Robert Pemagbi, Ambassador/Permanent Representative of the Republic of Sierra Leone to the United Nations, states that the Republic of Sierra Leone to the United Nations, states that the Government of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas and the Government of the Republic of Sierra Leone, desirous to promote and strengthen relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries, have decided to establish diplomatic relations at the Ambassadorial level as from November 2006.

The Bahamas Government looks forward to closer collaboration with the Government of the Republic of Sierra Leone, not only a bilateral basis, but also in the United Nations and other multilateral arena.
