BAHAMAS ESTABLISHES DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS WITH POLAND 30 August, 2004 The Commonwealth of The Bahamas, by an Exchange of Diplomatic Notes on 16 August, 2004, formally established diplomatic relations with the Republic of Poland. The Agreement establishing formal diplomatic and consular relations between the two countries is effective as of 19 November, 2003; and is in accordance with the provisions of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 18 April, 1961 and the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations of 24 April, 1963. In its Diplomatic Note to the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Poland to the UN in New York, the Bahamian Permanent Mission to the UN stated that the Government of The Bahamas was desirous of strengthening the relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries on the basis of mutual respect for the principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity and non-interference in the internal affairs of other States, in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations. |
