On Wednesday, 29 September the Bahamas China Friendship Association held a Press Conference at the Chamber of Commerce, Nassau, to announce the formation of the Association. 

Present at the event along with the Officers of the Association were His Excellency Jiao Dongcun, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China and Under Secretary Philip miller of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 

Mr. Joseph Curry, President of the Association indicated that the primary function of Association was to foster closer social and cultural ties between the two countries at the non-governmental level.
